Summer Daze {Wear it Like Charlie}

Don't you sometimes wish you could remember what it's like to be five .. like really remember? I think having kids is a way for you to see your own childhood and feel how your parents must have felt about you. I look at her with so much love and just have the BEST time watching her explore the world.

Dear Summer, never end. Please and thank you. ps- thank you for ice cream season.

A peek at the crazy {meet team Hello Charlie}

So I lovingly call my job crazy but let's be real ... it kind of is. I never liked photographing wedding parties or large family reunions ... it wasn't my personality. Toddlers and babies are my people and they make me happy. So yes you can call me crazy :)

This past year Hello Charlie has grown and has had ups and downs but through it all I learned if I want to continue I have to ask for help. I have expanded the team to include Maria Valdez who has no title but we could call her anything from my assistant to my life coach. I added two amazing hair stylists Ami Kordick and Kelsey Goins who also have little kiddos that model for me. And last but not least we added Emily Larson, who is our intern and we are counting the days until she is back in town from summer break!

We can't forget we also have somewhere around 200+ tiny little models. I tried to count the number that model "regularly" and it was about 50-60 but it really changes every month based on our shoots and clients. I wanted to just give you a small glimpse at who are models are and this photo only has 1/8 of our models ... someday we will take a giant group photo! We have babies from 3 months old up to kiddos age 8 who model REGULARLY for us. How crazy amazing is that?! Some of these kiddos have been seeing each other 1-2 times a month for the last two years and I am so proud of how far they have come. They each could easily go onto stardom in whatever field they choose to someday. But I like to think they will say "oh yeah we used to model together at Hello Charlie" :)

Thank you to Sam Owenson for taking our photos so we can be in front of the camera for once!

Funky Blue {Wear it Like Charlie}

This might be my favorite dress of ALL time. "Funky Blue" from Little Minis spring collection is even better in person than I could have imagined. You can tell from these photos that Charlie is also fully on board with the beauty of this print. She feels good in these dresses and is completely comfortable ... aka herself. I love love LOVE the little bloomers underneath so she can twirl and be silly and be FIVE with no wardrobe malfunctions. So where do you go when you have the cutest funkiest dress ever?! The place to be of course.

DIY Lemonade Stand by Hello Charlie

We got a ton of awesome response from our lemonade stand we made for Flora and Peg's summer shoot so we decided you guys need to know how EASY it is to make your own!

Here is what I used but feel free to substitute your own colors and props and tag us in the results! Pin this to Pinterest and be the mom hero who made this bad boy for their kids. You're welcome.

STEP ONE: Buy four wooden crates that you can paint easily. What is genius is after the lemonade stand is old news you can use these for toy storage, shoe storage ... see your husband can't get mad ... you are just being SMART.

STEP TWO: I spray paint EVERYTHING. Mainly cuz I'm lazy and also because I love the color palette that Devine Color at Target provides. I used the shade "ICE" for my four crates.

STEP THREE: Hand paint props ... don't be silly ... SPRAY PAINT PROPS. Lazy and easy and done in two minutes. I got my paper mache pineapples at Hobby Lobby and the spray paint is again Devine Color by Valspar at Target. Metallic Gold, Cove, and Raspberry were my colors of choice.

STEP FOUR: Add in cool props. I got my dowels from Hobby and spray painted them the same color as the crates, my banner is from the party section at Target, the "fresh lemonade" sign is from the dollar spot at Target, lemons are from Hobby Lobby and strawberries were too but you guessed it... I spray painted them pink or "raspberry" with my Devine Color.

That's it! Set up the crates in a group of four, I simply taped the dowels to the back and set the props in. Of course you you have to add in some lemonade and adorable toddlers but I think you can handle that part :)

Flora and Peg {styled shoot}

I get so excited about each one of my shoots that I am pretty sure after each one I think "ok this one was my favorite" ... so this one is currently my favorite but what I REALLY love about it is all the fun bold colors Darcie from Flora and Peg used in her summer collection that in turn I was able to use to style the shoot with. Even though my personal color palette is black, white, gray, netural ... my style choice for kids is BRIGHT and FUN so this shoot was my dream.

I styled the girls with bodysuits from Zara because I'm loving the off the shoulder ruffle look right now and I also used swim suits from Kortni Jeane's latest collection because of how perfectly her fruit theme mixed in along with the colors of course. I had never used a purple color as a background but after seeing it all together I think it was the perfect pop for this summer fruit inspired collection.

The models, the hair, and the fun props were the final touches that make this shoot one of my all time favorites. Make sure and pin your favorites to Pinterest and share the love!

Flamingo Flare {Wear it Like Charlie}

If you have a 5 year old girl then you know unicorns, rainbows, mermaids, and flamingos are pretty much all that you can purchase for them right now. Well, good news! There is tons of cute stuff out there right now and when I saw this dress at Target the other day, it was exactly what I had been looking for silhouette wise for Charlie.

It is SUPER soft, and long enough she can wear it as a dress with nothing under it. That is one of her main requirements right now. She will only wear dresses and Mommy needs them to be long enough her underwear doesn't show when she plays. She used to allow play shorts underneath but now is refusing those, so I have been searching for dresses a tad bit longer. This dress is also perfect for throwing on over a swimsuit since that is now her staple wardrobe for the next three months.

If this came in my size I would totally wear it I'm so in love with this look on her. We, of course, also got the Unicorns&Mermaids version, because if you find the perfect dress for $12.99 you have to buy the other design immediately.
